Warmer Geldregen für den FC Liverpool: Der englische Fußball-Rekordmeister hat einen neuen Trikotsponsor gefunden. Wie der Klub von Nationalspieler Florian Wirtz am Dienstag mitteilte, wird die Fluggesellschaft Turkish Airlines ab der Saison 2027/2028 das Finanzunternehmen Standard Chartered ablösen.
Laut BBC soll Liverpool für fünf Jahre 300 Millionen Pfund (rund 349 Millionen Euro) erhalten. Damit wäre es der lukrativste Trikotsponsoring-Deal in der Geschichte der Premier League, da die Vereinbarungen des FC Arsenal mit Emirates und Manchester City mit Etihad Airways auch die Namensrechte an den jeweiligen Stadien beinhalten.
Liverpool zufolge bleibt Standard Chartered für die laufende Saison der Trikotsponsor und wird anschließend zu einem "globalen Partner". Erst im Februar hatte Liverpool für das jüngste Geschäftsjahr Rekordeinnahmen von mehr als 700 Millionen Pfund bekannt gegeben. Zuletzt hatte der Klub den französischen Nationalspieler Bradley Barcola für bis zu 145 Millionen Euro von Champions-League-Sieger Paris Saint-Germain verpflichtet.
