دانت مصر محاولة استهداف مكة المكرمة، معتبرة أنها "انتهاك صارخ لحرمة المقدسات الدينية"، وذلك بعدما اتهمت السعودية الحوثيين في اليمن بإطلاق طائرة مسيّرة نحو المدينة، وهو ما نفاه المتمردون المدعومون من إيران.
وأكدت الخارجية المصرية في بيان "إدانتها واستنكارها الشديدين للمحاولة الآثمة لاستهداف مدينة مكة المكرمة في انتهاك صارخ لحرمة المقدسات الدينية"، مجددة دعم القاهرة للرياض "في أي إجراءات تتخذها لحفظ سيادتها".
