Mecklenburg-Vorpommerns Ministerpräsidentin Manuela Schwesig (SPD) hat bei der Landtagswahl am Sonntag das Direktmandat in ihrem Wahlkreis verteidigt. Im Wahlkreis Schwerin I kam die 52-Jährige nach Angaben der Wahlleitung aus der Nacht zum Montag auf 54,4 Prozent der Erststimmen und setzte sich damit gegen den AfD-Ministerpräsidentenkandidaten Leif-Erik Holm durch. Dieser erreichte 28,2 Prozent der Erststimmen.
Schwesig hatte den Wahlkreis bereits bei der Wahl 2021 direkt gewonnen. Damals erreichte sie 46,4 Prozent. Deutlich dahinter lagen der CDU-Kandidat Sebastian Ehlers mit 11,8 Prozent und der AfD-Kandidat Martin Schmidt mit 11,2 Prozent.
