Packers expect Jacobs to remain despite new allegations
Josh Jacobs will remain with the Green Bay Packers despite new allegations of physical incidents revealed against the running back, Packers head coach Matt LaFleur said Monday.
Jacobs was arrested in May after an incident in which he was accused of throwing his former girlfriend to the ground. He pleaded no contest in September to misdemeanor battery and criminal property damage charges.
In August, the NFL placed Jacobs on the commissioner's exempt list and he missed Green Bay's first six games of the season before being reinstated on October 19.
The latest accounts by three women of physical incidents involving Jacobs were revealed on Friday by the Hobart/Lawrence Police Department after a public records request for evidence in the May case.
The NFL said it would review the latest accounts as part of the league's ongoing investigation.
"We're aware of the prior allegations on Josh. We're going to allow the NFL to do its process," LaFleur said Monday.
"But I would anticipate him being a member of us moving forward. That's really all I have to speak on."
Jacobs has 75 yards and a touchdown on 32 carries plus 11 catches for 68 yards and two touchdowns for the Packers since being reinstated.
Asked why the Packers were supporting Jacobs, LaFleur said, "I'm not going to get into that up here right now. We'll just let the process play out.
"I would anticipate, as we go through everything, him being a part of it. We're just going to let everything kind of play out, obviously go from there."
The Packers are 5-3, last in the NFC North division and sixth overall in the conference.
A statement from attorneys for Jacobs said authorities had the "uncorroborated, old, and previously unreported allegations for months.
"They conducted their own exhaustive investigation, along with the police department, and the D.A. determined that only two misdemeanor charges were warranted."
